About
Being creative has always been a very important part of my life, but to date this has only been a hobby. I have always loved textiles and I have sewn since I was a child. I have learnt some skills and techniques whilst taking various textile courses, I have designed and sold jewellery in a local gallery. I enjoy interior design in my own home and also draw and paint as an enthusiastic amateur. I have also been working with preschool children and involving them creative processes.
I have always wanted to study and understand more about the thinking behind the creative process. To work on ideas and concepts of my own, exploring and researching different aspects of the creative world. Working towards a degree is very daunting, but a challenge that I now feel ready for. I am not confident about essay writing and referencing. I have never written at this level before, however I feel that with the help of the OCA tutors, other students and guides I will learn what is necessary to overcome this. Keeping motivated and managing my time are also of concern to me.
I would like to have more confidence, and I feel that studying as a journey in itself can lead to challenging yourself and overcoming these challenges leads to becoming more confident. I think I feel this way because I hate to get things wrong, but if I don’t try I will never know what I could be capable of.
